The Platte Canyon High School speech team traveled to Limon in their first meet of the 2020 part of the season. There were nine schools at the meet.

Heidi Sussenbach and Jackson Seidler took first in humor interpretation.

Kattie Prewitt was sixth in creative storytelling. Those three were the only three competing.

“Watching our Huskies compete is profound and inspiring,” Coach Michelle Christensen said. “They have a terrific sense of who they are, and their passion and creativity truly shine. I am looking forward to continue as speech coach and expand into debate next year. It’s my goal to grow the team and have entries in every event next year.”

Nathan Forgille recently stepped down as head coach, and Christensen took over the vacated position.

The team will be at Cherokee Trail High School Saturday Jan. 18. They will finish the season at state Friday Jan. 31 and Saturday Feb. 1.
