The Platte Canyon cross country team competed in the 2A Region 3 cross country meet at Rocky Ford Friday Oct. 9. 

The top four teams for the boys and girls advance to the state cross country meet. Then the top five runners from all other teams advanced to state. 

The girls finished fifth and the boys seventh. 

For the PCHS girls, Emma Dikken was 18th with a time of 23:36 and is going to state. Ily Hardey was 22nd with a time of 23:53.1, and she is going to state. Dikken and Hardey are two are the only two girls going to state for the Huskies. 

Sydney Wagner was 27th with a time of 25:56.3, and Hannah Grover was 30th with a time of 26:32.5. 

For the boys, Tucker Sussenbach was 17th with a time of 18:24.5. Jace Valentine was 24th with a time of 19:80.2. TJ Mattson was 35th with a time of 19:44.4. David Seaver was 49th with a time of 20:43.6. Right behind him was TJ Mattson in 50th with a time of 21:32.4. 

“Running is a mental sport, and we are all insane, said freshman Ily Hardey. “But I’m honored to go to state as a freshman.” 

“Speed kills, and we are going to beat them at state,” Senior Emma Dikken said.
