The Platte Canyon wrestling team competed in the 34th annual Forest Davis invitational at Sheridan.
At 113 Jeremey Ireton faced Jordan Romero of Lincoln and lost. He then faced Michaelray Abeyta of Manitou Springs and lost by pin. He lost to Hunter Hansen of Littleton by pin.
Andrew Hannigan started with Colton Beiriger of Evergreen and won by pin at 1:34. He then faced Kavi Veunnasack of Hinkley and won by pin at 1:31. He lost to Sam Johnson of Salida 8-6.
At 138, Ty Cole lost to Noah Prioste by pin. He then faced Max Strangand of Littleton and lost by pin.
At 144, Dalton Davidson had a bye to start. He then faced Dylan Gould of Classical Academy.
At 150, Dean McMahen faced Caleb March of Stanley Lake and won by pin at 1:49. He then pinned Hezekiah Veronin of Clasical Academy in 48 seconds. McMahen finished second.
Fierce Clair pinned Will Brent of Sheridan at 1:51 at 157. He then lost by pin to Charlie Weeane of Gateway. Cameron Seidler also wrestled 157. He lost to Justin Gregory of Evergreen by pin. He then pinned Chris Munoz of Denver West.
Devin Yakubson faced Gabe Zimmerer of Evergreen and lost by pin. He then faced Jacob Reynolds of Conifer. Caleb Lessig of Golden View won by pin. He then lost to Celestino Reyna of Hinkley 11-9.
Jett Godwin pinned Mason Sechler of Gilpin County at 1:47. He then faced Brayden Dowling of Manitou Springs and won by pin at 1:53. Godwin finished third.
“We did pretty well,” Coach Gary Rhoads said. “We took sixth place out of 23 teams and didn’t have five varsity kids.”
