The Fitzsimmons Middle School cross country team competed at the Frontier League meet Friday, Oct. 2 in Leadville.

 Clear Creek, East Grand, Fitzsimmons, Lake County and Academy Charter School competed in the meet. The girl’s team finished third and the boys were also third.

For the girls, Noah Heineman was 29th with a time of 21:05.7. Claire Byrne was 35th with a time of 23:34. Right behind was Whitney Amos with a time of 23:39.9. Emily Blackburn was 39th with a time of 30:05.9.

For the boys, Ben Bezzant was ninth with a time of 15:49.20. Then came the young Huskies: Trent Smith was 15th with a time of 17:35. Rowan Bailey 16th with a time of 17:50.70. Dristen Hernadez in 17th with a time of 18:00.50 and Bennett Poniatowski was 18th with a time of 18:10.20. Gavin Blackburn was 20th with a time of 19:03.90. Canyon Addison was 25th with a time of 19:46.50. Right behind him was James Seaver in 26th with a time of 19:48.50. Then it was Isaiah Saleny in 27th with a time of 19:49.20.

“Very proud of our team for turning a season that almost didn’t happen, to a season the whole team can be proud of,” Coach Kevin McNamee said. “The Huskies proved that even with all that is going on in the world, we can still compete and progress in cross country and all sports. We are looking forward to 2021 already.”
