Platte Canyon boys basketball team had two home games. Jan. 10, they hosted Arrupe Jesuit and won 43-24. On Jan. 12 they hosted Middle Park. Both were league games.
After the score was tied at two, the Huskies went on a ten-to-nothing run and led 10-2 after the first quarter. They scored the first five points of the second quarter to go ahead 15-2 with 4:30 left in the quarter. They outscored the Generals eight to five the rest of the quarter and led 23-7 at halftime. The Huskies continued to lead throughout the third quarter. It was 33-18 after three quarters. With 4:19 left in the game it was 39-18. The Huskies won 43-24.
Grant Kirklin had 15 points. Tate Heineman had nine points. Grant Culpepper had seven points. Trevor Kirklin, Jck McMahen, Alex Thoms, Chestin Rohman, Greg Oramas and Quinn Tanner had two points apiece.
“I believe we are still shaking off rust from the holiday break,” Coach Erick Jefferson said. “We have to focus up and play like a team. We’re really a good team when everyone is locked in and focused.”
The game was tied at six. The Panthers made it 10-6. A three-pointer by the Huskies made it 10-9. The Panthers went ahead 15-9 after the first quarter. They then went ahead 19-12. Six in a row by the Huskies made it 19-18. The Panthers led 24-22 at halftime. The Huskies took their first lead at 27-26 with 6:35 left in the third quarter. Back-to-back three-pointers put the Huskies ahead 33-28. The Huskies led 37-35 after three quarters. The Huskies got down 46-39. Six in a row made it 46-45. The teams continued to go back and forth, and the Panthers won 57-53.
