Dear Editor,

It’s getting hard to tell exactly what Cory Gardner believes. In 2016, he believed “The American people deserve a role in this process as the next Supreme Court Justice will influence the direction of this country for years to come.” In 2020, he does not. In 2016, despite his voting record, he claimed to support reproductive rights. In 2020, he believes women have no right to make decisions about their health or their family.

He has claimed to support insurance coverage for preexisting conditions, yet he has voted against such coverage at least 13 times. Gardner was prophetic in 2016, when he called Trump “a danger to our Constitution, freedom, and security, who would sell our security to the highest bidder.”

In 2020, Gardner is campaigning for Trump’s reelection.

The question is not “Which Cory will show up?” We already know that. The real question is, why would Colorado want him to return to Washington at all?
