John Luther Phillips, Jr.

John Luther Phillips, Jr. passed on March 1, 2021 at the age of 68, due to complications brought on by his lifelong battle with crohn’s disease.

He was born in and lived a significant portion of his life in Fort Worth, Texas, before moving to the mountains of Bailey, Colo., just over 20 years ago, with his best friend and dedicated wife, Carla.

He was self-employed with Phillips Packaging, Inc as packaging broker for 30 years, then wrapped up his career as a regional manager with Reynolds Food Packaging in Colorado.

He was an ever-present, loving and supporting parent to his three children, Angela, Nicholas and John III. He was a kind, engaging and delightful person that never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He loved to take family trips, especially to Lake City, Colo. in the summers to fish and explore the mountains.

Aside from being survived by his wife and three children, John also leaves behind his sisters Barbara and Allison; grandchildren Mackenzie, Josephina and Victor; great-grandchild: Zoey; and three dogs, Louie, Stella and Heimo.

The family will hold a small private memorial service in Lake City, Colo. in June to spread his ashes on his favorite mountainside. The family asks that any donations made in John’s honor go towards the Lone Rock Veterinary Hospital (http://www.lonerockvet.com/), or to a local animal shelter.
