Cecil Marvin Green

Cecil Marvin Green passed away on Sunday morning, April 23, 2023, due to complications from cancer.

Cecil was born in Texas, but grew up in Hartsel, Colorado, on the historic Hartsel ranch. He grew up as a cowboy, and his love for the cowboy way of life influenced how he lived.

Cecil was a family man who loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Cecil loved horses, fishing, country music, rodeos, cooking and visiting with friends. He was kind, generous, funny and entertaining. You could not spend time with Cecil without laughing at his stories.

His passing has left a hole in the hearts of his family and friends. Life without him will never be the same. His bright smile and mischievous eyes live on in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cecil constantly checked on family members and ended every phone conversation with, “I love you, and if you need anything, let me know.” He was a caretaker of everyone, and happiest when he was doing for

others.

Cecil is survived by one son, Jason Green; two daughters, Stephanie Rogers (Eric) and Taralyn Chambers (Mark); fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Johnny Green (Debbie), sisters Inez Frye (Dave) and Sylva Lee Green (Dan), and many nieces and nephews.

Cecil was preceded in death by his father, John “Curly” Green; his mother, Mary Green; and his daughter, Tonya Green.

A Celebration of Life will be May 6, 2023, at First Christian Church, 320 N 16th St., Canon City, Colorado, from 10 – 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary, followed by visiting and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
