John G. Rubner

John passed away March 23, 2020, from a heart attack while at rest in his easy chair at home.

He was born and raised in Denver, attending Holy Family Grade and High Schools. He retired to his Hartsel, Colo., property in 2007, eventually becoming a member of American Legion Post 172 where he helped with their monthly community breakfasts.

John was well known for his generosity and kindness – caring about people and giving in any way he could.

John participated in Black Powder Shoot Reenactments. He served in the United States Air Force.

John was preceeded in death by his sister Cecilia Rubner; father Tony Rubner; brother Anthony Rubner; and  mother Eleanor Rubner.

He is survived by his son, Joel (Kyli Jo) Sandry; grandsons Rhyis Sandry and Nicholas Sandry; siblings: Barbara (Stoffers), Mary (Broyles), Dorothy Rubner, Susan (Ziegler), Michael Rubner, Josie (Rafalian) and Sheila Rubner. 23 nieces and nephews and their children have fond memories of their Uncle John, and countless cousins enjoyed their time with this Gentle Giant.
