The Senior Alliance of Platte Canyon and the Rotary Club of Conifer sponsored a 9Health Fair at the Platte Canyon High School last Saturday, Oct. 17. Over 120 participants were able to get a number of lab tests as well as free influenza immunizations. The entire fair was set up to provide a COVID-19 safer environment, from temperature check and COVID questionnaire at the front door, to floor spacing of six feet, continuous sanitation of tables and high touch areas by the volunteers. Nourishment and drinks were provided in individual wraps and containers.
The sponsors would like to acknowledge organizations and businesses who donated time and or materials to create this event. The Bailey Veterans of Foreign Wars 8661 provided a fabulous breakfast menu for volunteers. Boy Scout Troop 238 in Bailey laid out the social distance tape, helped set up the tables and chairs, and moved equipment around the gym. Moore Lumber donated the painter’s tape for the floor marking. Safeway/Albertsons provided the pharmacists who gave immunizations and a gift certificate for the purchase of snacks for participants. King Soopers also provided funding for food.
Most especially, Platte Canyon School District opened the gymnasium which provided a space large enough to keep everyone socially distanced as well as custodial support that was superb.
Thank you to the volunteers from SAPC and the Rotary Club, as well as other community volunteers. And a special thanks to 9Health for bringing this incredible resource to our mountain community.
