Platte Canyon High School speech team was in Fort Morgan Saturday, Jan. 20, in their last regular meet before state. The state meet will be held at Heritage High School Friday, Jan. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 27.

There were ten teams. They were Battle Mountain, Dawson School, Eagle Valley, Faith Christian, Fort Morgan, Genoa-Hugo, Gunnison, Hayden, Limon and Platte Canyon.

In creative storytelling, Heidi Sussenbach was second and Danielle Whimer was 12th.

Emma Heideman and Sierra Nieland were fifth in duet acting humor.

In poetry interpretation, Brenna Curry was fifth and Sarah Yates was 13th.

In humor interpretation, Drew Heineman tied for second, Sierra Nieland was sixth and Jackson Seidler was eighth.

In impromptu speaking, Josh Seidler was 11th.

“Our students did a great job at Fort Morgan, and we are excited for state,” Coach Amanda Waterhouse said.

The following students will be going to state: Brenna Curry, Drew Heineman, Emma Heineman, Joe Huntley, Sierra Nieland, Jackson Seidler, Josh Seidler, Jacob Staffer, Heidi Sussenbach, Danielle Whitmer and Sarah Yates.
