The Park County Livestock Committee has announced a rare opportunity, enabling youth who are interested in joining the Park County 4-H program a chance to be chosen as the winner of a market lamb, provided by a sponsor, that the youth will raise from the beginning of April to be shown and sold at the Park County Fair in July 2021.
4-H is open to any youth in Park County ages 8 – 18 by Dec. 31, 2020 who are willing to join one of the Park County 4-H Clubs by Dec. 31.
For information on Park County 4-H Clubs please visit https://park.extension. colostate.edu/4-h/ The Park County Livestock Committee is committed to mentoring each youth through the process to help ensure they’ll are successful. The winner of the contest will receive a lamb purchased by sponsor from a top Colorado lamb breeder and then awarded to the youth the beginning of April.
Once receiving the the lamb, the youth will be responsible for feeding and caring for the lambs through the completion of the Park County Fair. The youth will be responsible for training and working with the lamb every day to prepare for the show.
The participant will also be required to complete record book, write monthly letters to sponsors and call into the Park County Livestock Committee for inspections and progress reports to make sure the participant is on track.
