Craving lobster tail, chicken and waffles or a corn dog in Fairplay? No problem. The Hungry Miner restaurant is now open for business and serves a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

The Hungry Miner serves miners and non-miners alike. In addition to an adult menu, it has a children’s menu which includes chicken nuggets, cheese quesadillas, macaroni and cheese, corn dogs, fries, apple juice, chocolate milk and more goodies.

The breakfast menu includes omelets, crepes, pancakes, breakfast burritos, chicken and waffles, and fruit waffles. The very hungry customer can choose the “Mega Miner Breakfast,” which consists of two eggs, two pancakes, two sausage links, and two strips of bacon.

The lunch menu has an array of burgers, sandwiches, and steak, shrimp, cheese or chicken quesadillas.

Main dish choices include chicken, shrimp or beef skewers, a rotating steak option, cheeseburgers, loaded chicken breast and sliders.

Seafood dishes, which may include lobster tail and cajun boils, will be served as specials.

Main dishes include two sides with a choice of garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, steamed veggies, macaroni and cheese, or side salad.

The owners, Caleb Bolander and Matt Donnelly, began as poker players, then friends, and are now business partners. They have hired local Fairplay chef Greg Sanchez.

Liquor will be added to the beverage menu once the license is approved.

Angel food cake and caramel, plain, or strawberry cheesecake are available to top off a meal.

A hamburger will empty $7.99 from your billfold and a breakfast burrito will take $5.99.

Hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dinner is served from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
