Platte Canyon Huskies wrestling team competed at the Arvada Invitational Jan. 14. The Huskies finished third with 108 points. They were 11 behind Arvada.

At 113, Jeremy Ireson lost to Sam Jackson of Loveland. He then pinned David Thompson of Golden View Classical Academy. He finished third. 

 Andrew Hannigan pinned Isaiah Lanan of Golden View Classical Academy.  He lost to Noah Kuberry of Loveland. That put him in the constellation round and faced Cooper Craze of Monarch. Hannigan won by pin. He then faced Aiden Perry of Westminster for third place and won by pin.

Aiden Karashinski  got a first round bye at 132. He then lost to Jonah Rodriguez of Loveland. He then pinned Koryn Dodge of Brighton and moved to go for third place and won by pin.

 Carter Hogsett lost to Rodriguez. Hogsett was unattached, and a win did not count toward team points. Hogsett lost to Jebidah Hoffman of Arvada. 

Ty Cole, at 138, lost to Cameron Gonzalez of Middle Park. In the constellation round Cole pinned Xaeden Espinoza of Monarch.

He then faced his own teammate Lalo Maldonado and won. He then faced Jacob Bradley of Brighton and won by pin. Next it was Jeremiah Ramos of Brighton and lost.

Maldonado pinned Daniel Klein of Middle Park at 2:22. He lost to Colton Codell of Stanley Lake. That put him against Cole. Cole won by forfeit. Maldonado was unattached. 

At 144 Dalton Davidson lost to John Ocelnik of Arvada. Davidson pinned Elijah Caucutt of Golden View Classical Academy at 1:45. He then lost to Spencer Moorecraft of Golden View Classical Academy and lost.

At 150, Dean McMahen won by pin  over Janey Elliott Faith Christian. 

 He won by decision 5-0 over Bryce Hayman of Loveland which moved him to the championship match.

Keaton Brown was unattached at 150 and got a bye. Fierce Clair also got a bye and lost to Brown. Brown now faced McMahen for first place, and McMahen won by forfeit.

At 157, Kolton Brown lost to Jed Jurjocvsc of Loveland. He then faced Nahum Macias-Castillo of Arvada and won by pin at 1:41. He faced Luca Gebre-Mariam of Monarch. Brown won by pin and took third.

Cameron Seidler was unattached. He lost to Jurjocvac. He then lost to Luca Gebre-Mariam.

At 165, Devin Yakubson lost to Walker Hagman of Loveland. He then lost to Caleb Lessing of Golden View Classical Academy. He lost to Xavier Gregory of Brighton. He lost to Christian Ciotti of Arvada. His last match was against Jacob Angel of Monarch. There were six wrestlers in this weight class. The winner of Angel and Yakubson would be fifth. Yakubson won and finished fifth.

Josh Ebbs pinned Luke Ceil of Golden View Classical Academy at 175. That put him in the championship match against Joshua Gonzalez of Arvada. Ebbs won 9-6.

At 215, Jett Godwin pinned Caleb Newhall of Faith Christian at 3:08. He lost to Jayce Prante of Englewood. He pinned Keith Robinson of Brighton at 1:14. He lost to Jacob Barr of Middle Park. Godwin finished third.

“We wrestled well,” Coach Gary Rhoads said. “Wish we could have had 11 more points to finish second. Some matches just didn’t go our way. We were able to compete against bigger schools.”
