Fitzsimmons Middle School track and field team competed at Bear Creek Saturday, April 27. The overall team results were not available at press time.

While overall results were not available, there were a few individual standouts.

Eighth grade high jump

Grant Culpepper was first, clearing 5’4”.

Seventh grade high jump

Jaiden Martinez was second. Martinez is a sixth grader.

Eighth grade 800 meters

Taelon Creed finished in the top five with a time of 2:52. Creed is eagerly working to beat the current FMS 800 meters record of 2:45.

Coach Cuno said jokingly, “They may not like me much at practice, but they’re pretty excited when they compete.”

“It was the biggest meet this team has attended,” Coach Reesha Curtis said.

Overall it was a great meet. The team’s next competition will be home Saturday, May 4, as FMS hosts the annual Mustang Mountain Classic.
