Platte Canyon Little League continued their games against Ken Caryl Little League.
Tuesday, May 14, Ken Caryl Sharks won 5-0 over the AA minors. Wednesday, May 15, AAA minors and Great Whites tied at ten. Thursday, May 16, AA minors fell short against the Twisters 6-5. Saturday, May 18, the majors lost 13-3 to Boykins. The Hawks beat the AAA minors 17-9. AA minors had a rematch with the Twisters and won 15-10.
AA minors versus Sharks
The Sharks won 5-0. Kier Brockus struck out five batters. Garrett Jackson, Liam Anderson and Tyler Tanner struck out three batters apiece.
AAA minors versus Great Whites
Great Whites took a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Both teams scored five runs in the second. The Great Whites led 6-5 after two innings. Great Whites went ahead 7-5 after three innings. AAA minors took a ten to seven lead going to the bottom of the fourth.
Great Whites scored three and the game ended tied at ten.
“Great game against Great Whites,” Coach Eric Smith said. “Hit well and field well together. Great play between Leo Batzer at catcher and Max Ebaugh to save the tie in runner stealing home.”
Majors versus Boykins
Boykins jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings. Boykins made it 11-0 going to the bottom of the fourth. Kaid Brockus was hit by a pitch. With Brockus on third, he scored on a dropped third strike. Dalton Davidson tripled and scored on a steal home. It was 11-2 after four innings.
Ben Scheck walked and went to second and then third on steals. He scored on a groundout by Hunter Harnish. It was 11-3 after five innings. Boykins scored two in the top of the sixth and held the majors to lose 13-3.
Nathan Laabs and Davidson had the lone two hits for the majors. Ben Scheck had one walk and Harnish and Laabs had one RBI apiece. Davidson and Laabs struck out three batters apiece. Austin Cook struck out one.
AA minors versus the Twisters
Each team scored two in the first inning. The Twisters went ahead 3-2 after two innings. Back came the minors with two and held the Twisters to lead 4-3 after three innings. The minors lead increased to 5-3. The Twisters scored three in the bottom of the fourth and won 6-5.
AAA minors versus Hawks
The Hawks scored four in the top of the first. AAA minors responded with five in the bottom of the first. That lead didn’t last long. The Hawks went ahead 7-5.
The minors came back with two and the game was tied at seven after two innings. The Hawks scored five in the top of the third and then held AAA minors to two runs. It was 12-9 after three innings. Five more by the Hawks made it 17-9 and that was the final.
“Nice inside-the-park home run by Leo Batzer,” Smith said. “Bats a little soft.”
AA minors versus the Twisters
The Twisters scored one in the top of the fourth. After three straight singles, Emma Flores singled to tie the game at one. The AA minors scored four more and led 5-1 after one innigs. The Twisters scored four to tie the game at five. With the bases still loaded, Kier Brockus hit an inside-the-park home run. That made it 10-5.
The lead didn’t last long as the Twisters scored five to tie the game at ten. With the bases loaded, Liam Anderson’s base hit put the AA minors ahead 11-10 and the AA minors won 15-10.
“I was proud of the team and the way they kept fighting,” Coach Shawn Flores said. “We had some tough stretches, but we hit well today and found a way to get a good team win.”
