Tales from the Happy Hamster Ranch

Sniff-sniff and bye-bye to Suby doobie doo

For most of my adult life certain smells have triggered recall of specific moments in the past, and, in some cases, evoked some very emotional responses.

Like, oh, rain on hot pavement. It always makes me think of summer in Lamar, Fudgsicles from the freezer at McCorkle’s corner store, blowing out my flip-flops (which were called thongs in the 1960s) and blistering my feet on the walk to and from the pool. Just a simple afternoon rain shower can conjure up all sorts of great memories.
