We met a bunch of angels in Fairplay on Saturday, Nov. 30; earth angels, that is.

We were strangers and they invited us in, we were cold and they gave us blankets.  We were hungry and they fed us.

We were among the 700 plus who spent the night in the school on that impossible snowy and windy night. The volunteers who helped us were fantastic. They couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful.

The other “refugees” who were stuck with us remained in good spirits. We didn’t hear any grumbling; in fact, we spent much of the time making new friends and had some great conversations.

The sixty-some dogs who were brought in from the cold were surprising well behaved. All in all, everyone made the best of a very difficult situation. This experience was our biggest Thanksgiving blessing ever. We will never forget it.

With much gratitude,

Ellen Kely and Bob Stocker
