Michele Denise Papineau-Copeland-Tice

Michele Denise Papineau-Copeland-Tice, 70, of Santa Fe, N.M., went to be with the Lord on Dec. 21, 2019.

She was born to the late Agnes Elizabeth Trent (Betty) and Melvin Frederick Papineau, April 8, 1949, in Sacramento, Calif. She married Michael Copeland on Aug. 1, 1970, and relocated to Bailey, Colo. in 1971, where they raised their three children.

Michele is preceded in death by her son Joshua Kevin Copeland and her brother Kevin Eugene Papineau. Michele is survived by her son Erik Copeland and his wife Sarah of Phoenix, Ariz., and her daughter Chloe Copeland and her husband Alexei Desatoff of Santa Fe, N.M. Michele is also survived by her six grandchildren; Kenneth Easter-Copeland, Roxanne Copeland, Jake Copeland, Abriella Seils-Copeland, Phoebe Snow Desatoff-Copeland and William (Bowdre) Copeland.

Michele’s unwavering, genuine belief in the good in every person always kept her head wired directly to her heart. This gave her the ability to give love and trust endlessly with a childlike innocence. Because of that, this world lost even more of what this world is desperately needing. Heaven, however, gained a beautiful soul.

The best way to describe Michele, in short, is to say that she was a butterfly-loving, happy hippie, Mother Earth mama, fairy, God-fearing Christian, and prayer warrior.

Michele was laid to rest next to her son Joshua at Horn Cemetery near Bailey, Colo., on Dec. 29, 2019.
