Daphne E. Humke

Daphne E. Humke was born in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, Oct. 20, 1923, as Daphne E. Black, to parents Roy J. Black and Inez Black. She died April 15, 2019, in Littleton, Colo.

She attended Louisiana Tech, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. That is also where she met Frederick Humke, and they were married in 1946.

They lived in Wisconsin, Iowa, Texas, and eventually moved to Bailey in 1999.

Fred and Daphne thoroughly enjoyed their time in Bailey and their home in Mill Iron D.

Frederick preceded her in death in 2017, and she is survived by her two sons Frederick “Rick” O. Humke III and J. David Humke, as well as their wives Carol Humke and Janet Humke. She also leaves five grandchildren, as well as eight great-grand-children.

She was loved by all and will be missed; however, we are grateful that she is reunited with Fred in heaven.

She will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
