James Charles “Jim” Collins of Woodland Park passed away March 1, 2018 in Aurora, Colo. from bladder cancer. He was born on Dec. 10, 1957 in Colorado Springs to Charles R. “Chuck” and Eileen M. Collins.
During his childhood, his family moved to several locations in the United States where his father was stationed with the Air Force, but Colorado Springs was always home. After college, he moved to Indianapolis, Ind., where he met his wife Judy. They were married Nov. 21, 1987. They moved to Michigan, where Jim worked in sales in the automotive industry, eventually becoming the Director of Global Sales for Borg Warner Automotive.
In 2006, he and his wife purchased the 11 Mile General Store in Lake George, Colo. from his parents. He managed the store until his death. He was able to fulfill a dream of working in a place where his customers were happy to come for a visit.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to travel and spend time with his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Judy; sons Brennan (Kelsey) and Eric; brothers Dan and Paul (Shanna); sister Julie (Richard) Foster; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at North Springs Alliance Church, 1702 Chapel Hills Drive, Colorado Springs, Monday, March 12..
