Roberta Jane “Bobbi” (McCann) DeBonis was born Oct. 17, 1948, to Robert and Mildred McCann in Chicago, Ill. She went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the age of 69, surrounded by loved ones in Centennial, Colo.
Bobbi was born the second of four children to Robert and Mildred McCann. She met Tom (Tess) DeBonis in 1963 and got married April 30, 1966, in Chicago. She attended cosmetology school. Her first child, Tom Jr., was born on July 28, 1968, followed by Renee on Sept. 22, 1971. In 1969 the family moved to Boulder, Colo., then back to Chicago, finally moving back to Boulder in April, 1973. July 5, 1978, the family moved to Fairplay, Colo. Tom and Bobbi opened numerous businesses while in Fairplay.
Through her years in Fairplay she helped run the businesses. She also volunteered over the years with various fundraisers such as Burro Days and the Fairplay-Alma Golf Tournament and never missed one of Tom and Renee’s concerts, plays, or sporting events. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafting, playing golf and cooking. She loved being a homemaker, a mom and a grandma.
She is survived by Tess (Tom) DeBonis; her son Thomas and wife Becky; daughter Renee and husband Howard; grandchildren Myranda, Makayla, Vincent, Emma and Anna; sister Patty Gilmore (Dave); brother Mike (Dee); sister-in-law Donna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her older brother Peter.
She will be remembered for her stunning red hair and sense of humor that matched it, and always wanting to take care of her family. A private service will be held for family.
