4-H is in full swing this time of year. The Park County Fair is July 15 through 19. To start off the Park County Fair, we have our 4-H Youth County Shoot Competition. This will be held at the Como Range July 11, at 7 a.m.
Our youth compete in .22 rifle, shotgun, archery and Western heritage.
This month the Hamburger Helpers 4-H Club attended one of the best 16 days in January at the 2020 National Western Stock Show. On Jan. 22, we had over 20 kids from the Hamburger Helper 4-H club go down to the stock show to spend the day learning how to fit cattle at the Andis Cattle Grooming Demonstration
We watched the Junior Market Steer Showmanship, as well as the Junior Market Swine Champion Selection. At the fitting demonstration we learned how to clip a steer and the do’s and don’ts.
At the end of the clinic they had a giveaway, and Chestin Rohman won a brand new blower and Grant Shirley won a brand new set of clippers.
At the Junior Market Steer Showmanship we watched the kids show and learned from their showing. At the Swine Champion Selection we got to watch them pick the winners for the 2020 National Western Stock Show.
Not only this month did we go to the National Western Stock Show, but we also had two kids from Park County attend a 4-H Leadership Development Conference in Denver. The theme this year was “Running In 2020,” because of all the elections. We had a great time and cannot wait until next year. The Hamburger Helpers 4-H Club hopes to see you all at the 100th year of the Park County Fair.
