“Why make the drive to the Springs when you can have a romantic dinner for two at Blah Blah Blah Cafe in Lake George on Valentine’s Day?” asked Neil “Van” Keane, the new manager of the café located where the Ye Olde Lake George Inn once stood.
Blah Blah Blah Cafe, owned by Rosario Lombardi, has been in business for a little over two years, but only part time until now. Keane and his wife, Johnna, and daughter Jordan, have taken on a managerial position, and the restaurant is now open more hours.
The Keanes took over the week before Thanksgiving and have kept the tradition Lombardi started with homemade- from-scratch cooking and good prices.
They serve mostly Italian dishes, but they also offer a breakfast menu, lunch sandwiches and dinner entrees. They still have the all-time favorite of Bison Chili, which is available all the time. They also offer specialty coffees and teas and are in the process of researching the possibility of a liquor license to be able to serve beer and wine.
The new hours have increased business, and they thought it would be a good time to offer something special for Valentine’s Day. A dinner for two includes entrée choice of lasagna, pasta and meatballs or pasta and Italian sausage, onions and peppers, side salad, dessert, and a red rose for her.
Reservations are required for the Valentine’s special and can be made by calling 252-207-1997. If you get their voice mail, please leave a message and they will call you back.
Blah Blah Blah Cafe is now open five days a week: Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Valentine’s Day hours are the same as any Friday, but the dinner special is available only between 5 and 8 p.m.
