Mass Megawatts installs high-efficiency wind-powered water pump in Como

Mass Megawatts, a publicly traded company based in Worcester, Mass., and Morrison, Colo., has installed its first new-design wind-powered water pump in the Elkhorn Ranches subdivision southeast of Como. The wind power system’s uncommon structural design enables it to pump up to five gallons of water per minute – depending on the customer’s needs – when wind speeds are 20 mph.

By comparison, conventional windmills pump three gallons per minute with the same wind speed, said Richard Barcia, chief executive officer of Mass Megawatts. And, he said, his wind-powered system costs less.
