The Barrel Race Competition is always a popular event with both fans and competitors at the Park County Fair. This year the barrel competition will be held in honor of the life of long-time fair board volunteer member, Jeff Meyers.
John Everest, treasurer for the Park County Fair Board, said, “Meyers was on the fair board and strongly supported the fair for many years, working behind the scenes, and helped in many, many ways.”
The Memorial Barrel Race Competition will be held Saturday, July 20, with the race beginning at 10 a.m., people generally begin arriving around 8 a.m.
The competition is open to anyone and is hosted by True West Productions.
“The Park County Fair Board donated an additional $1500 cash award prize for this event,” Everest added.
The Park County Fair Jeff Meyers Memorial Barrel Race Facebook page reads that the race will be “4-D open barrels, 80 percent payback half, and half full sec splits.”
