9/24 – 8:30 a.m. – Master Trooper Thomas responded to a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 24, west of Hartsel. An 18-year-old female from Leadville, driving a tan and green Ford Bronco, was traveling westbound. The driver of the vehicle fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle drifted off the right side of the roadway and collided into a guard rail. The driver overcorrected to the left, and the vehicle continued off the right side of the road, rotating counter-clockwise. The vehicle continued down an embankment and rolled over one and one-half times. The vehicle came to rest on its top. The driver was not injured in the crash. The driver was cited for multiple violations.
9/24 – 5:05 p.m. – Trooper Carlson responded to a single-vehicle accident on Colorado 9 on Hoosier Pass. A 22-year-old female from Fairplay, driving a blue Chevrolet Caviler, was traveling southbound. The driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling around a curve on black ice. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and collided into a delineator post. The driver corrected to the left. The vehicle traveled back onto the roadway and off the left side. The vehicle collided into an embankment off the left side of the road and came to rest. The driver was not injured in the crash.
