UPDATE AS OF OCTOBER 9, 2018: Kickin’ Ass Mountain Pizza is no longer at Mad Jack's Mountain Brewery

Mad Jack’s Mountain Brewery welcomes a new food partner, Kickin’ Ass Mountain Pizza, to their brewery. Kickin’ is owned by Patrick and Deidra Keogh from Hartsel. They started making pizza about nine months ago and decided a few months back to join Mad Jack’s.

Kickin’ makes homemade dough and serves their pizza Neapolitan style, which many in the U.S. aren’t as familiar with. The Keoghs have a wide selection of specialty pizzas which they change often, trying new menu items all the time and dropping items that don’t sell.

The current offerings include a “Thai Basil” pizza; “Buckskin Joe,” a pepperoni pizza; “Laurette,” a cheese pizza; “Moose,” a tomato basil pizza; “Watacka,” a portabella mushroom pizza; “American Mine,” barbecue chicken pizza; “Little Nellie Mine,” a basil pesto sauce with chicken and spinach; “Robber’s Roost,” seasoned pork with green chilies, jalapenos, topped with radish; “Silver Heels,” a pineapple and Canadian bacon pizza; and “Prospector,” a meat lovers’ pizza with pepperoni, bacon, salami and seasoned pork.

All the pizzas are 10 inches and cost $12, with additional toppings available for $1 each. In addition to the pizza, Kickin’ has grilled chicken wings in three varieties. Thai basil, sweet smoky barbecue and special jalapeno sauce.

The pizza is made in a portable pizza oven that was made in Colorado. The oven is heated by hardwood and can reach temperatures of 600-800 degrees. The cooking time on the pizza is usually only about two minutes when the oven is heated up.

Kickin’ winter hours, which will go till about Memorial Day, is available Thursday 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday noon until 8 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Kickin’ will expand the hours for the summer and plans to be at Mad Jack’s most of the time.

“We have a commitment for a fundraiser, for the Park County Fair and for Burro Days. Other than that we should be here,” said Patrick Keogh.

Mad Jack’s Mountain Brewery has been a Bailey gathering place for almost two years. They have live music on the weekends and a wide selection of their own draft beers, as well as several drafts that were personally selected by Jack Hansell to add to the variety of tastes available.

In addition to beer, Jack’s has hard ciders and wine available. Mad Jack’s Mountain Brewery is located at 23 Main Street, Bailey.

They are open 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. seven days a week. For more information, see their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/madjacksmountainbrewery or their website www.madjacksmountainbrewery.com.
