Commissioners support sheriffs’ lawsuit

Plaintiffs include Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener in lawsuit opposing recent gun control measures

Posted: Friday, June 28, 2013 4:24 pm

On June 20, Park County’s Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution supporting a lawsuit opposing recent gun control measures. It was filed by 55 out of 62 elected county sheriffs, including Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener.

The lawsuit was filed against Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper because of two gun-control bills that were passed and signed into law this year. The sheriffs say the laws are unconstitutional and unenforceable.
