The Christmas season in downtown Bailey will kick off Dec. 8, when the Platte Canyon Area Chamber of Commerce presents Cowboy Christmas. The festivities will kick off at 1 p.m. at the Bailey Community Center, 83 Main Street.

Santa Claus will be there for the entire three hours, until 4 p.m., in his own Santa- land, and children can have their picture taken with him for free as they tell him what they want for Christmas.

There will be a raffle for a free turkey. Entries will be available at numerous Bailey businesses and at locations during the celebration.

Giving Trees will be set up at various downtown businesses. Tags on the trees list items needed for children on Christmas.

Children’s crafts will be available from 1 p.m. unti 4 p.m. There will be a fire pit where you can roast smores. And join in for the pine cone decoration session.

Before the tree lighting and the Parade of Lights, hot chocolate will be available and a round of carolling for those who want to try out their singing voices. There will also be face painting for the children.

The parade starts at 5 p.m. Pat Davis and his wife, Robin Davis, are expected to serve as Grand Marshalls for teh parade. A “Can of Beans” trophy will be awarded for the best parade float.
