Fairplay police officer awarded for bravery

Officer went into burning home to check for people on Dec. 21

Fairplay police officer Joel Vice was presented with a commendation for bravery at the Jan. 7 Fairplay board of trustees meeting for entering a burning house to make sure no one was inside.

The fire happened on Dec. 21 in a home at the corner of 5th Street and Castello Avenue in Fairplay.
