Visitors from near and far swarmed into the Knotty Pine Jan. 3 to celebrate the establishment’s 50-year anniversary.

As usual, the milk shakes and lattes flowed freely as well-wishers dropped in to mingle and reminisce about their own personal memories made at the Knotty Pine.

“We had a great time and attendance was terrific,” said Knotty Pine owner Barb Pilcher. “It was very satisfying to see so many family members, friends and customers at the store to celebrate fifty years.”

Older model blenders, coffee makers and other accessories were neatly placed on exhibit for visitors to view, along with photo albums to help tell the store’s unique history as a long-standing gathering place for people from Bailey and beyond.

Pilcher addressed the large crowd in attendance and emphasized how grateful she was to everyone who has shared in the store’s success over the past five decades.

Pilcher began working at the Knotty Pine washing dishes at the age of five. She purchased the store from her parents, Bill and Beth Peterson, in 1993. The Petersons originally purchased the store in 1970.
