64 alfa fire in Bailey

A grass fire that started near County Road 64 in Bailey, Sunday, Sept. 15, grew to 15 acres by Monday. As of this writing, Platte Canyon Fire Protection District says the fire is 50 percent contained, and due to cloudy conditions and some humidity, they expected it to be contained soon. Residents in Payne Gulch and Rocky Top were under mandatory evacuations until the fire is out. According to 9News, “Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw said two men were target shooting when their bullets caused a spark and lit the grass on fire. They tried to put it out, McGraw said, called 911, stayed at the scene and were very cooperative.” (Photo by Kelly Kirkpatrick/The Flume)
