Tarryall lion

Mildred B. “Midge” Harbour (1922–2015), lived at Harbour Valley Ranch in the Tarryall Mountains for over 30 years. Harbour wrote for The Flume and The Canyon Courier and authored “The Tarryall Mountains and the Puma Hills.” In the book’s preface she wrote, “There are many strange and fanciful rock formations on the west face of this mountain (South Tarryall Peak). However, one in particular resembles a huge lion in all his glory as he seems to guard the Tarryall valley. Today, with modern highways, the old “lion’ can enjoy the fruits of those labors by watching campers and fishermen on a holiday in his glorious valley.” This view is from the entrance to Spruce Grove Campground off County Road 77.
