Pint Night with Hunter and Anglers

“Mary Poppins” at Backstage Theatre

Area youth will bring the classic “Mary Poppins” to life as part of Backstage Theatre’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP). Youth receive almost four months of instruction from theatre professionals in singing, acting and dancing as they prepare to mount a full-scale musical for the community.

MRHI Film Festival

Mosquito Range Heritage Initiative’s third annual Alma Mountain Film Fest will be Friday, April 20, at Alma Town Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m., and movies begin at 6:30. In celebration of Earth Day, join us in a film celebration of engaged residents and the spectacular environment. Please bring your own utensils and dishware, and  maybe appetizer or dessert. $10 suggested donation. The feature film is “I’ll Push You,” a 500-mile journey on the Camino de Santiago: two friends embark on a trip made more challenging by one traveling in a wheel chair. Others are “A Ride of the Dead,” a mountain bike ride in Oaxaca, Mexico, and “A Walk in Time: The Deadly Garden.”

Writers Exchange writing session

The Chaffee County Writers Exchange is sponsoring a WE Write free writing session open to the public on Monday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Buena Vista Library, 131 Linderman Avenue, Buena Vista. The leader this month is Don Owens, with the topic, “Fiction-Short Story Smorgasbord.” Don is a writer, blogger, LEED AP, Reiki Master and semi-retired construction project manager. Historical Society dinner presentation

Silverset luncheon

Daddy-Daughter Dance

South Park (Community) Youth Group is excited to announce our eighth annual Daddy-Daughter Dance at the Fairplay School Multipurpose Room on Saturday, April 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. All dads and daughters of all ages are welcome, including “stand-in” dads. Gift bags, desserts, pictures, oldies to today’s hits all at this special time together. Bristlecone Montessori fundraiser

Please join us. Bristlecone Montessori School will be having our annual fundraiser April 14 at the Alma Town Hall, starting at 5 p.m. $12 for adults and $6 for children 5 and under. AARP Safe Driver course

The Safe Driver four-hour training is being offered in Buena Vista at the Sangre de Cristo Community Room, 29780 U.S. Highway 24 N, Buena Vista, April 27 starting at 8:30 a.m. Completion of this training can mean a discount on your car insurance. Reservations are required and space is limited. Call Jean Gabardi, 719-395-1986, to reserve your place. The cost is  still the same: $15 for an AARP member and $20 for a non-member. The completion certificate is good for three years.

Easter Egg Hunt at Bailey Library

The Friends of the Bailey Library will be hosting a free Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31. The hunt is divided by age groups. Beginning times are as follows: Ages 0-4, 11 a.m.; ages 5-8, 11:30 a.m.; ages 9 and up start at noon. Additionally, there will be a bouncy house, used book sale and quilt raffle. Proceeds from the sale of the quilt and used books will be used to pay for the Easter Egg Hunt and bouncy house. The Bailey Library is located at 350 Bulldogger Road. Call the library at 303-838-5539 if you need more information. You might be the kids who find the special eggs.
